This section explains how teachers/professors can create classes integrated with RealBoard. This integration allows students to use RealLives to share their learning experiences and reflections on a private, school-exclusive social network.
If you're not familiar with RealBoard, refer to the RealBoard manual below:
Create a Class Tool Section: After logging in, the first page under the RealBoard tab is the Create a Class Tool dashboard.
This page displays relevant options for managing classes and tracking student progress.
Click on the box titled "Create a Global Citizenship Class with RealBoard" to start creating a new class focused on global citizenship.
Total Classes: Check the number of currently active classes next to the title (e.g., "Total Classes: 21").
When you select Create a Class, you will be redirected to the Class Types page, where you can choose from four types of classes tailored to your educational goals and learning journey.
Four options are available when creating a class, each with a unique purpose:
Description: Students are born in random countries and experience unpredictable lives. This class type encourages critical thinking and fosters diverse perspectives.
Purpose: Promotes discussions on global diversity and helps students adapt to unfamiliar situations.
Action: Click the Create button to set up a Random Life class.
After choosing the class type and editing the board, the final page allows you to set essential details like class name, description, students, teachers/professors, and assignment dates.
Step 1: Enter Class Name
Input an appropriate name in the "Class Name:" field at the top of the page (e.g., Class 9A - Random Country).
Step 2: Set End Date
Below the class name, set the End Date by clicking the calendar icon and selecting the assignment's completion date. Confirm your selection.
Step 3: Specify Age Group
Enter the suitable age range of the participants in the Age Group field (e.g., 16).
Step 4: Add Class Description
Write an overview of the class in the Class Description field.
Step 5: Add Students
Select students from the list of registered participants in the system.
Step 6: Add Teachers/Professors
You can also assign additional teachers/professors to the class.
Step 7: Finalize Class Creation
Review all details and click the Create a Class button to save.
...
Specific Country: Choose a specific country to help students explore its culture and society.
Life with SDG: Learn about global challenges through lives linked to specific SDGs.
Assignments: Provide customized learning experiences tailored to the curriculum.
Refer to the process described above for detailed instructions on each type.
After clicking the Create button, the Edit Board page opens. Here, you can name the board and add sections for students to interact with, customizing the board to fit your class's goals.
At the top of the page, find the "Name your board:" field.
Input an appropriate board name (e.g., "Global Citizenship Board," "Environmental Issues Class," or "World Culture Discussion").
After naming, click the Checkmark icon to save.
Each class board includes predefined sections for student interaction. Customize these sections to align with your class's specific objectives and learning outcomes.
How to Edit: Click the Pencil Icon next to the section title to modify the name or description. Adjust the sections to focus on the class theme (e.g., researching countries or reflecting on national issues).
After creating a class, navigate to the Create/View Classes with Global Citizenship Assignment page to manage or view all related classes.
Alternatively, go to Manage Classes in the sidebar and click the My Class List section to access your classes.
A green confirmation message at the top of the page, "Classes saved successfully," indicates that the new class has been successfully saved in the system.
Once a class is created, students added to the class automatically receive a Notification in their RealLives accounts.
This notification informs students that they have been added to a new class (e.g., Class 9A - Random Country).
Students can click the notification to view the class and start the assigned life simulation.
Teachers and professors can easily access the created board by clicking the RealBoard button in the sidebar of the dashboard.
Here, they can view and manage the board, interact with student posts, provide feedback, and monitor assignment progress.
Use RealBoard to create an integrated learning environment with RealLives. Students can reflect on their learning experiences, explore solutions to global challenges, and share ideas with peers.
